Cultivating Inspiration: Embarking on Your Kitchen Garden Journey

It all begins with an idea. Maybe it’s to get healthier. Maybe it’s something you can do to relax. Maybe it’s to try to save money on groceries. Maybe because you want to be more sustainable. Maybe you want the best tasting and richest flavor possible for your food and herbs. Whatever the reason behind it, you have had the epiphany: “I want to have a kitchen garden.”

For me, it sounded fun and having grown up with some kind of veggie garden I firmly believe everyone should be growing something they like to eat. Then that idea grew. It grew into creating a place that relaxes and reinvigorates me. It grew by realizing that fresh fruit and veggies from the garden taste so much better than the ones at the store you can buy 12 months a year. It grew by realizing I could spend the money on a couple lavender plants, chamomile seeds, and the like and would never need to buy my favorite herbal teas again. It grew by designing a beautiful garden that inspires me, teaches me, and feeds me.

So now you want to have a kitchen garden. What will you create? What will you be inspired by? What new recipes will you try because you have the freshest ingredients right outside your door?

Get inspired, visit other gardens, watch videos of other gardeners, travel to awe-inspiring potagers near and far. As you begin your garden journey you will learn that you will never stop growing. Each season will bring new lessons to celebrate and learn from. So get your hands dirty. A seed of inspiration has been planted in you and its high time to plant in your potager too!
